Which Approach is Best for You?
Somatic psychotherapy is a holistic approach to therapy that integrates the mind and body, recognizing that emotional and psychological experiences are deeply connected to physical sensations. This method helps clients increase awareness of bodily responses, release stored tension or trauma, and develop a more grounded, present sense of self. Through techniques such as breathwork, movement, touch, and mindfulness, somatic psychotherapy supports healing from the inside out.

Somatic EMDR combines traditional Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with body-based (somatic) awareness to support deeper trauma healing. While EMDR helps process and integrate distressing memories through guided eye movements or bilateral stimulation, the somatic approach adds attention to physical sensations, posture, and nervous system responses. This integrated method allows clients to track and release trauma held in the body, fostering greater emotional regulation, embodiment, and long-term resilience.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), often called “tapping,” is a mind-body practice that helps reduce emotional distress by combining gentle tapping on specific acupressure points with focused statements about the issue at hand. Rooted in both modern psychology and ancient Chinese medicine, EFT works to calm the nervous system, release stuck energy, and rewire emotional patterns. It’s a simple yet powerful tool for addressing anxiety, trauma, limiting beliefs, and everyday stress.

Integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) into psychotherapy offers a flexible, holistic approach tailored to each client’s unique needs. CBT helps identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns, while DBT builds emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal skills. IFS adds depth by exploring the inner landscape of “parts,” fostering self-compassion and healing internal conflicts. Together, these approaches provide practical tools for change, emotional insight, and a deeper connection to one’s authentic self—supporting growth on both the surface and deeper levels.

Integrating Yoga Philosophy into therapy brings a deeper awareness of the mind-body connection, emphasizing presence, compassion, non-attachment, and inner balance. When combined with mindfulness and breathwork, this approach helps to regulate your nervous systems, reduce anxiety, and stay grounded in the present moment. Breathwork, in particular, supports emotional release and deeper self-connection. Together, these practices foster not only healing and resilience but also clarity around personal values, purpose, and what truly matters. As you grow more attuned to yourself and the present, you may likely begin to experience life with greater intention, connection, and meaning.
